Penny shares her NHS memories

Penny spoke to us about her career in the NHS and the wonderful NHS patient care she received.

My journey with the NHS started in 1974, when I started my SEN training at MPH. Once qualified, I worked at Trinity Hospital, Taunton and then Chard Hospital.

I left the NHS to have my two children in 1979. They were brilliant when I had my children. In 1984 I went to work as an SEN in private nursing homes, where I remained for nearly 30 years.

In 2007 I worked in the community as a carer.

In 1997 I had a massive brain haemorrhage and without the support if the NHS, I would have died. The NHS and everybody working in it is brilliant.
