Vicky shares their NHS memories

Vicky talks her work at NHS Somerset.

When did you start?

2005

Why did you choose to work in the NHS?

I started as an admin temp doing data entry whilst I was looking for something more permanent after finishing university. I never looked back after being given opportunities to grow and develop my skills over the years doing a variety of different roles in the NHS.

What do you do?

I am a Primary Care Contract Manager and whilst the role has a focus on contract management it encompasses many different areas alongside this such as payments and service development and improvement.  I really enjoy making a difference to patients through the support we give to Primary Care to provide the best services they can.

What would you tell someone now who was thinking about a career in the NHS?

I would encourage anyone to look at a career in the NHS. There are so many different types of roles and there is something for everyone. The variety and changing nature of the NHS gives so many opportunities to grow and develop. I would signpost anyone thinking about working in the NHS to the following website to find out more: https://www.healthcareers.nhs.uk/
